Although it opened in 2014, I was only introduced to Local Tap House (LTH) last year. And it has quickly become one of my go-to spots in the area.
LTH, located on Coast Highway in Oceanside, has a truly local feel, and thus an ever-changing menu based on local produce, local beers, and local seasonal favorites. I love that I can go there every few months and experience something new on the menu each time.
The portions are fair for the price, and each menu and bar item is always packed with thoughtful flavor combinations. I seriously have yet to try something there that I didn’t enjoy.
It is also a very pleasant space to dine in. It boasts 2 whole walls of open, rolling garage door windows, and high ceilings, all of which make it feel larger than the space actually is. I also love the minimalistic decor and industrial details (yeah, I’m definitely not over that trend yet).
Although we normally venture there for dinner, we have recently been for their bottomless mimosa brunch, and have had an awesome (and very bubbly) experience with that menu as well.
It’s a great place for a casual date night, but I think it is an even better spot for a group of friends, as there are mostly communal and high-top tables.
Stand out items: the “WTF” poutine-style fries (OMG though), house made quinoa burger, and S’mores
