Staycation

As much as I love to travel, explore new places, vacation on exotic beaches, and check new countries off my bucket list, I am also fortunate enough to live in a place where many other people come to vacation: Carlsbad.

Carlsbad is a suburb of San Diego adjacent to the beach, and it will forever be one of my favorite places in the whole world.

This past weekend, my boyfriend and I had the chance to have a “staycation” in Downtown Carlsbad, at a hotel right across the street from the beach. We took such pleasure in being able to walk to the beach, restaurants, bars, etc. Staying down there in a hotel, not dealing with the daily chores and duties of being home really made the area we knew so well feel like a sleepy little beach town that we were exploring for the first time. It was so much fun walking to breakfast, going back and forth between the beach and the hotel pool; and we made sure to end the weekend right by inviting a group of our friends on a bar crawl through the village.

This past weekend taught me that as much as traveling is an incredibly amazing experience, and something I dream about daily, it is also important to take advantage of the little things around you, and play tourist in your own town every once in a while.

Here’s a little glimpse back at our staycation:
